A year to the day Tim was tragically lost, we honoured his memory with a memorial walk along the beach to Moggs Creek and back. Led by Jane, Sammy, Sarah and Emma we remembered, shared stories and laughed at the many memories we all
treasure. Whilst the day was sad it was also uplifting to see more than 500 people celebrating an extraordinary life.
Jane, Sammy, Sarah and Emma would like to thank everyone who contributed to the success of the walk and for their continued support.
As you may be aware a commemorative photograph was produced for the anniversary.
Sixty copies have already been sold and more limited edition photographs are available for those wishing to support the Foundation.
The Tim Gates Foundation is a not for profit trust which will invest the funds and provide the income arising for the benefit of the Fairhaven SLSC. It is to commemorate those values for which Tim stood and was passionate in instilling into the Nippers and into the lives of young people with whom he came in contact.
To date $54,000 has been donated to the Foundation. As a result of the income raised in the first year of the establishment of the trust Howard Hughes has been commissioned to produce a number of rescue boards, impressed with Tim’s name, for
use at the club.
We hope that in 2010 we will be able to assist a club member as they pursue their passion in the surf life saving movement.
If you would like to donate to the Tim Gates Foundation prior to the end of the financial year cheques can be sent c/- Fairhaven SLSC, P.O. Box 221, Aireys Inlet. 3231
